Can I get sick from my influenza or pneumonia shot?

No. The virus in the influenza (flu) and the bacteria in the pneumonia shots are killed (inactivated). The risk of getting sick from either of these shots is extremely rare although allergic reactions can occur.

Please let your doctor know if you have an allergy to eggs. Common side effects include soreness at injection site, low grade fever, and aches.
